The Habit of Thankfulness: A Few of My Favorite Things

Sept 27th- A few of my favorite things...
~People who feed your love of maps
~Seeing snapshots on a time gone by
~Finding some scholar's 100 year old homework enclosed within the pages

The gift of a "new" atlas from my brother

A 1907 snapshot of the world, atlas style!

Seeing the world through the wonder
that the first owners of this atlas saw it...
King Tut's tomb wouldn't be found for another 15 more years!

The great San Francisco earthquake and fire
was in 1906 was news hot off the press

Photos of the devastation must have been heartbreaking to see

Then, neatly tucked with in the pages
is several pieces of someone's geography homework
from 1918...
the scholar had yet to see the Armistice
that would happen later that year.
I can picture this book being opened many times
along with the newspaper
trying to figure out where
all the battles in the newspaper occurred.

Maps...
a snapshot on geography, politics, history and time..
always something to discover...
in 1907...
in 1918...
and in 2018
